They constitute the largest collection of Venetian art in the world.
The former seat of Venice’s Accademia di Belle Arti, the current Gallerie dell’Accademia constitute the largest collection of Venetian art in the world. The exhibition itinerary, which ranges from the fourteenth century to the nineteenth century, includes some of the major masterpieces of the Renaissance, including works by Bellini, Carpaccio, Giorgione, Tintoretto, Titian and Veronese, but also more modern artists such as Canaletto, Guardi, Hayez and Tiepolo.

The origin of the Gallerie dell'Accademia’s collection is of a political and educational nature. In fact, the collection took shape at the beginning of the nineteenth century to support the training of young artists and prevent the sale and dispersion of the works.
